DescriptionI really love the way Gene draws Ironman and makes his clunky suit fluid. No one can twist and contort images better than Colan. With so many inkers not really understanding Colan's pencils, the inks on this one are in the very capable hands of Jack Abel. Twice up Marvel Silverage goodness!Social/Sharing |

Pretty fun when these crossovers happened in the early days of Marvel before either of them had their own title! Colan's darker tone and atmopshere created an air of mystery as we see a dramatic ominous entrance by Namor while Iron Man is at his most vulnerable. The cover scn in the last panel!

Many congrats, Jeff, on a wonderful piece of artwork! As you have pointed out, few could capture the fluidity of Old Shellhead better than Gene. Wonderful inks by Jack Abel as well.

For fluidity, Gene was in a class by himself. Plus silky Abel inks. Congratulations!

Jeff, whatever you're doing is the opposite of slowing down, love to see it!

Great pick up from a classic hero vs hero battle storyline. Cover image too! Colan's art always seemed more in line with classic strip art illustration to me but those were the days when the bullpens were comprised of visionaries and each title had a unique look. Excelsior, Jeff!

Well, this is a rather fine page! I'm not always a big fan of Abel's inks, but he did a knockout job on this sequence.

Colan was one of the best sequential comic art storytellers of all time. Does not get enough credit imho. Great page Jeff!

Excellent tee-up to one of the greatest all-out battle issues of the Silver Age--well bought! And love Colan on Iron Man...

The last panel is my favorite l. Love the rendering on old shell head and of course Namor makes the whole thing sweeter still! Congrats!

Always a suprise to see you post super hero stuff but yes Colan was as distinctive as they came during that era. I do prefer palmer inking him myself.

Great pick up. I debated buying this myself. In my opinion, Abel was best inker on Colan.
