10-3/8x15.75" artboard has pen and ink original art by Howard Chaykin for Star Wars #1, published by Marvel July 1977. Art is for page 16 and is from Part 1 of Star Wars: A New Hope movie adaptation. Page features seven panels and shows two different scenes from the film; the first being when Darth Vader joins Grand Moff Tarkin and confronts a gathering of Imperial commanders, Force choking Rear Admiral Motti in the third panel while uttering the iconic line "I Find Your Lack Of Faith Disturbing" after Motti mocked his belief in the Force. Of note, prior to the deployment of the Force choke, Vader uses the Force to deliver a steaming beverage to his hand, something not seen in the film. Vader appears in first four panels. The last three panels show C-3PO an R2-D2 aboard the Jawa Sandcrawler vehicle, the Jawas appearing in final panel. C-3PO and R2-D2 appear in final two panels. Art has been inscribed and signed at lower left margin in black ink by Chaykin. Fourth panel has correcting to word balloon placement, w/surface paper wear, not overly distracting. Top margin has stamped "Star Wars" title along w/inked issue/page numbers. Top/bottom margins have thin strips of tape staining, not affecting art. Back has Marvel copyright stamp. Artboard has some scattered dust soiling to margins w/.75" crease at upper right corner. Art remains clean and displays Exc. Classic comic depiction of pivotal film scene. Very few pages of original art from the six film adaptation issues of Star Wars have ever come to market, this being one of the most important in our opinion. This piece (and other Star Wars original art offered in this auction) is fresh to market and this is its first time at auction. All came from one collector, and each is an incredible find, none moreso than this page from the very first issue of Marvel's iconic Star Wars comic book series.
