DescriptionKurjak and Nina are posing as American horror magazine editors, but their ID's don't look anything like them: “That's true. Good old Jack is a bear with a red beard, and little Myra is skinny and pimply. Maybe from some points of view, it's better not to be like those two.” “I feel guilty. Who knows how much they cared about this evening.” “Tender Nina. You feel remorse for two fanzine nuts. Okay, so we robbed them and put them on the train to Bulgaria... but in exchange they met a real vampire and a Dampyr. Besides, we had to 'crash' the party somehow, right?” “And Harlan and Tesla? How will they get in?” “Don't worry; we know this old castle very well.” The bottom panel was inked, then scanned and manipulated digitally, printed, and pasted back on the page to achieve the spooky rain effects. Notice also Nina's bedraggled, soaked hair in panels 2 and 4. The right hand page shows Harlan and Tesla spelunking in a tunnel deep beneath the castle: “This way, Harlan? Do you see me?” “Sure. I have my special infrared glasses. And I remember quite well the underground road that Tomsa, my father's Carpathian warrior, taught us to enter Vlatna Castle. The question is: Will the secret passage still exist, after the destruction and reconstruction of the castle?” * See Dampyr No. 20, 'The Castle in the Carpathians.' “We'll find out soon.” “Everything here is in ruins. A mountain of debris.” “Hold on. Leave it to me.” As long as these stories are, it's amazing the stuff that gets skipped over. The scene Kurjak mentions, with two American journalists getting bushwhacked and bustled off to the wrong destination so Kurjak and Nina can replace them, could have easily taken ten or twenty pages if shown with the same detail that has gone into the rest of this book. It would have been more plausible (if less exciting) for Caleb Lost to pull some strings to get Kurjak his tickets. Even better, Draka could mysteriously provide the tickets. Social/Sharing |

Got to say that this illustration at the bottom of page 72 is as atmospheric as anything we've seen and it carries over into everything else.

73 pages so far and it could have been longer!? dang. but I'm not complaining when it means seeing panels like the bottom of Pg 72 - it's brilliant, and Wrightson-esque!

73 pages, and the heroes haven't even entered the castle of Dracula Park yet! These Italian books put a lot more emphasis on dialogue than rapid plot progression.
