Description

The German journalist Ingrid flirts with Kurjak:

“So you work for a film magazine. Fascinating! You must meet a lot of interesting people in the B-movie scene.”

“Oh, well...”

(Waiter speaks Romanian) “Would you like a vişine?”

“Thank you. I don't know what it is, but it looks delicious.”

“It's a crepe with cherry jam.”

“Consolation for missing dinner.”

“Dessert is often even better.”

(Hobbes to Ingrid) “Disgusting! In order to nab the American, you stoop to praising his little fanzine.”

“I'm not interested in the journal, but in the journalist! Why don't you devote yourself to that other morsel, Hobbes? Perhaps she doesn't seem perverse enough for you? But remember that appearances can be deceiving.”

“Hmm...”

“Ladies and gentlemen, give me your attention. Following your guides into the depths of the castle, you will experience the magical and horrific night I promised you.”

“I would have preferred to curl up under the covers and close my eyes. Can't you get your friend Vance to put everything off until morning?”

“I guess nighttime is the right atmosphere for vampires, right? Can't you just relax, Sylvaine?”

“No, not after what I saw in that mirror.”

“Someone else's face was there, I suppose. But it's just a simple trick.”

“There's an organ in my room that plays by itself. I hope Vance has come up with something better than this old carnival stuff.”

Ingrid is human, but her predatory gaze is a bit vampiric, don't you think?

Andreucci really went the extra mile on these pages, with detailed renderings on the several close-ups, the forty figures in the crowd scene, and the backgrounds. For heads, he occasionally uses profile shots (the easiest to draw) as in the second panel, but more commonly the head is turned off-center to small or great degree.

Ingrid may be scarier than anyone else, and in a good way. Is she human!? Even if so, She's gotta be hiding something ...hmmm.
