DescriptionFinally have been able to add an amazing piece of art from Jonathan Wayshak that was completed for OAX 2025 in Orlando this year.Normally I don't do stuff like this, but this piece is definitely special / meaningful to me. There is a small backstory. I was introduced to Jonathan at SDCC 2023 when I was hanging around Allen Spiegel's booth. He and Allen were chatting. Allen pulled me over and introduced Jonathan to me, and said "You really need to get some art from this guy. He's an amazing artist." Jonathan and I proceeded to talk for the next half hour, and Allen, happy to make the introduction and watch us chat away went and sat down. I went by Jonathan's table at artist alley, where we continued to talk, and I started to see some of the work he brought along with the books - instantly fell in love with his style and just how much detail he packed into his art. I asked about commissions, but he was booked and busy with projects at the time. So, we exchanged information, I started following him on social media, and started the deep dive looking at his older works that have been posted. Totally blown away by everything I saw, and wished I was more aware of him before the introduction to Allen. Eventually, Jonathan reached out, and we had a discussion about commissions. I bounced a couple of ideas off of him, and mentioned my love for the Sandman universe along with being able to work with Allen to get commissions from Dave McKean. He wasn't familiar with the books, but he was interested in the characters that I thought he could have fun with and let his imagination run wild and do whatever he wanted with the character. He was interested in Delirium, so that's what was decided on. No other direction or requests - just gave him full control to do whatever he wanted, take his time, and left him alone to work on it as time permitted. This is the result. I was completely floored when he pulled it out at OAX. The scan, unfortunately, doesn't do the piece justice. It really pops in person, especially the 3D effect of the bubbles in the hair. It's really astonishing, and I couldn't be happier with the piece. It's extra special as well since Allen was involved with that initial introduction to Jonathan at SDCC before he passed. A massive THANK YOU to Jonathan for creating this great piece of art. He's a great guy and an outstanding artist. Hope to add more pieces from him down the road. 17x22 mixed media "If Nothing is Absolute" is what he titled the piece. Social/Sharing |

This was an awesome piece to see in person. I love the contrast with the inks and colors. Huge congrats!

Thanks DJ. He definitely had other great pieces that people picked up (like yours). I'm just excited to be a part of the club that has something by him. :)

This is a great stunning example of Wayshak's talent when given no limitations! Seeing this at OAX certainly gave me pause. Congratulations!

The imagination, the artistic freedom, the confidence, and the artistic skill put to use, has brought Wayshak a vision of Delirium that explores what she stands for from a different perspective from anyone else.

That sums it up perfectly like your comments normally do. Thank you!

First of all, yes, scans don't do Jon's work justice. Secondly, congrats on the killer commission. Mixed media combined with a variety of techniques and a wicked imagination. How could you miss? Just worried about the "hope to add more pieces from him down the road" statement. That's all I need, more competition. Haha!

Appreciate the comments. Sure, I'd love to get more of his work, but I'm patient and willing to share (to a degree).. 😉 However, I'm very happy to have something by him and be part of the club.

When you showed me this commission at OAX 2025, I was completely blown away! The scan, while nice, does not do the piece justice. Jonathan Waychak has a unique artistic vision that he brings to life in drawings that are massive both in ideas and in scale. This illustration of Delirium is his brilliant way of visualizing a being whose mind is virtually exploding with delusions and illusions and hallucinations. Jonathan's colorful depiction of this confused state of mind is brilliant, IMHO. And I don't think any other artist has found a better way to make Delirium come to life. Phenomenal pick-up, congratulations.
