A really nice, character driven page. Giffen and Mahlstedt bring depth to Mon-El’s emotions here, capturing his sense of guilt and responsibility. Showing Mon-El and Night Girl working to rebuild Daxam adds a powerful, reflective moment to the story. The composition and black spotting really enhance the somber tone, emphasizing both the emotional weight and the resilience of the characters. My favourite page of the bunch so far!

In my mind I'm going to Darkness Saga. Can't you Shady art line, can't you just feel the Darkseid?
Ain't it just like Mon-El of mine to hit me from behind? Guess, I'm going to Darkness Saga in my mind.
Giffen Keith's delivered run, you best draw away with Mahlstedt shine,
And sketch her watch no warning comes.
An Ultra tear appearing now I'm crying, ain't I? I'm going to Darkness Saga with the Night.
There ain't no doubt in no ones mind that loves the finest inks around,
Restore Daxam soft and kind.
And hey, babe, the sky's on fire, I'm trying, ain't I? I'm going to Darkness Saga in my mind.

Mon El may have been Giffen's favorite Legionnaire. At least, when I approached him about a commission in 2019: Mon El was the character that he considered doing. Sadly, it did not happen before his passing.

I agree with that. Giffen gave Mon-El a great send off in LSH 4.

Nice page! Mon-el and Shady were always one of my favorite Legion couples and this has some of that sweet Larry Mahlstedt inking!
