This page really brings Newton’s artistry to life! The contrast between the shadowy cave in the previous chapter and the sleek, high-tech environment of the Solar Lab creates a striking visual shift, making Freeze’s discovery of Kirk feel even more dramatic. Newton’s use of heavy blacks and deep shadows adds a sense of mystery and danger, especially in the first panel, where Freeze cautiously enters the lab. The intricate detailing on the machinery and the glass tube enhances the sci-fi aesthetic, making the setting feel asif it could actually exist.

The final close up panel is beautiful, with its bold lighting and strong contrast on Freeze's face, giving it a very pulp style feel. Newton’s cinematic instincts continue to be on full display here, with a panel structure that is essentially a full page splash with two inset panels bookending it. Something way ahead of its time for a project being illustrated as a Sunday newspaper strip. This work deserves far more attention from comic art fans.
