DescriptionGodzilla Book PlateArt by Adam Gorham (11" x 17") Godzilla IS the KING of the MONSTERS so this certainly qualifies for my October posting themes! Earlier this year I went on a Godzilla watching binge, going back to the original black and white film (Godzilla, 1954) all the way up to the more modern movies and tv series (Monarch, Minus One, Godzilla x Kong New Empire). I especially loved Minus One and Monarch as far as the newer productions. I definitely missed some of the more obscure movies and animated series along the way that I didn't have easy access to watch though, but I'll try to catch up to the ones I haven't seen eventually. Generally speaking I enjoy watching those films without thinking too hard about them. So this piece of art popped up for me at the right time while my brain had Godzilla on the mind, as a fellow collector and friend Carl Choi was parting with it on a CAF sales show, and I was already a fan of Adam Gorham's work, having picked up several of his published pages from his Star Wars: Darth Vader run, which you can also check out in my gallery. Thanks Carl! This book plate was printed/published as a promo item around the 2022 IDW one shot comic release Godzilla Rivals: Vs. King Gidhorah that Adam worked on. Adam had it at his tables for conventions/shows. You can see the colored/printed version of the image in the additional images area. Social/Sharing |

Oh, my goodness - YES. FANTASTIC piece, Kavi!! Looks like somebody's got a rumbly in their tumbly... Fantastic lighting on this; love the "dark scale" being used, lit from below due to the hellish nuclear rage he just unleashed (and showing all the texture on his impervious hide). This is not a Godzilla who moves mountains; this dude goes right -through- them. Also, I truly, madly, deeply love the sky on this one, too. Adds so much to the feel (chaos!) and setting (destroyed city!) of the piece. Beautiful! Congrats on a -great- pick up!

Killer Godzilla piece, love all the smoke/energy details, for some reason thsi really helps with the scale. Fantastic lighting and tonal detail work as well. Congrats!

Personally I think Kong is the true Kink of the monsters, but no use in quibbling about it. A great looking piece! I guess Carl caught you right at the perfect time! I watched Minus One a few months ago because fellow comic art collectors were saying it was so good. So I watched it and was shocked to find out it was a Japanese production, as nobody who talked about how good it was even mentioned that. But it was really good and even more impressive that the production values were as good as they were, give that they didn't have Hollywood money to pump into it.

This is truly a black and white painting! I am not a fan of the colored printed image though.

Wow, wow, wow!!!!! I have to say, this is one of the best Godzilla pieces (by any artist) that I have seen in a very long time. When I look at it, I can just feel all the power, and intensity, and ferocity of the character. It just all hits you in an instant. About as impactful a piece of visual art as I have ever seen. Good thing you saw it before I did. I would have snatched this up in a second. Congrats Kavi, truly a phenomal piece!

Wow! I love this image of Godzilla by Adam Gorham! I really like the rich blacks that Adam used on Godzilla here, it looks almost like he's lit from behind by burning buildings and firefighters' searchlights. The back lighting makes Godzilla seem bigger and more powerful than ever! You can almost feel him moving forward out of the smoke and destruction. What a fantastic illustration of a fantastic beast! Great pick-up, congrats!

Gorham killed it! Love the contrast throughout from the shadowed Godzilla to the smoky residue of his atomic breath. I gotta get a Gorham piece myself soon. Congrats!
