Description

Even though the book hasn't officially been released, Mora has already created an absolute historic cover. The final published image was finished digitally due to time restraints (head position and earth background) but I honestly like the initial take better. It has more of a Chris Reeve movie outro feel, which this is clearly pulling from. I also like the smile more and the fact he looking towards earth as he's returning from Warworld. Really look forward to reading the published book

I agree with your description: in your piece, he's the Reeve Superman more connected to Earth. What a difference that head turn makes!

The b&w original makes more sense with Superman overlooking the planet as our protector. There's are reason why the Reeve image has stood the test of time. You can cue the smile and the John Williams score.

I really enjoy Mora's work. He has this unique ability to lay down the dry brush effects which look different than anyone else's. That it's a classic image evoking Christopher Reeve makes it even more special in my eyes!
