Cyclops' failed leadership rears its head for the first time! Roth and Tartaglione can wring out the emotions when needed in the X-Men's lowest point.

Look at all the weepy cry babies. He's only pretending. He's not even dead! He's hiding. The coward. The later reveal that the Professor was a big fat liar (years later, well post issue 65) on many other things not quite such a surprise if you read this arc. Roth is a very underrated X-Men artist. I always liked his work on the series.
Wonderful page by Werner Roth, whose subtle style fits in even better in the non-costumed/no-action pages! Oh, and there might be traces of Don Heck's layouts on this page, especially on the beautiful portrait of Jean Grey in the third panel...
