Description

After the Watergate scandal exploded and it became clear that President Nixon had helped cover it up, things went downhill fast. The release of the White House tapes showing he tried to block the investigation was the final straw. He started losing support from Congress—even from Republicans—and it became obvious he’d be impeached and probably removed from office. To avoid that, Nixon resigned on August 9, 1974, and Vice President Gerald Ford took over (and later gave him a full pardon).

All the behind-the-scenes drama from this period was captured in a book called "The Last Days", written by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein—the same reporters who helped uncover Watergate. The book gives a deep look into the chaos, tension, and emotional breakdown inside the White House as Nixon’s presidency collapsed.
