Description

From HA: Set during the Prohibition-racket scene of the Great Depression, this brutal crime comic was turned into an Academy Award-winning film starring Tom Hanks in 2002.

Most already know, but this series is based on Lone Wolf and Cub.

I'm a massive Lone Wolf and Cub fan, and own (multiple copies of) the Lone Wolf and Cub Gallery Edition. The trouble is I wasn't completely satisfied as they're still copies of the art, and not actual original comic art. Finding an actual page from the series is impossible, and while there are sketches available, they aren't the same to me, as they're not from a published book. So how does one scratch that itch?

While I do love this series, and appreciate this comic moment for what it is, I figure this is as close as I'll get to owning published Lone Wolf and Cub. This moment feels like 100% Ittō to me.

Heritage Auction had this listed as page 79, but the copy of the book I have has this page as 95. No idea. Also I didn't add a pic of the published piece, as they're the same. There was no additional dialog or color.

Anyways, super happy with this piece!

A very cool page with the action content squeezed into Rayner's format for the book. It looks like art from that gangland time period as a fully illustrated pulp novel.
