Description

Fleetway first used this cover for War Picture Library 307, "Born Leader" in September 1965 and later for War Picture Library 2024, "Eagles Fly High" in 1983. The gouache painting has an acetate overlay with stat paste-ups for 1983 book and story names.

Synchronicity sometimes happens. I accidentally ran across this work by Italian comics artist Biffignandi in an auction. At the time I was studying Italian and the Divine Comedy and had recently visited the country, bringing back some Italian fumetti (comics) to read.

I'm primarily familiar with Biffignandi's "sexy" cover art, so it's really nice to see something from a different genre from him.
