DescriptionThe voting for "D" in Barry's Facebook Group got pretty vociferous! There were a few votes for Duo Damsel, and Dr Gym'll, Double-Header, and Dragonmage all got little shoutouts, but the two most-voted characters were (understandably) Dawnstar and Dream Girl. I think Dawny might have gotten more votes, which I remember being a bit crestfallen about because Dream Girl is one of the characters Barry does best (compared to all the other characters Barry only does really, really, really, really well). So, you'll imagine my delight when I opened Facebook and found that he'd gone with Dream Girl after all!! Cue another lightspeed Facebook message (I got pretty good at those by the time the alphabet was nearing its end), and a bona fide fully-painted Barry Kitson Dream Girl to add to my collection!You can see from the prelim (which I also bought) that Dreamy was maybe supposed to be less centred in the piece, but I love the near perfect symmetry Barry wound up implementing in the final product. It makes Nura seem all the more peaceful and serene - hopefully she's having a pleasant dream, and there's no impending doom in store for the Legion, for now. Or maybe her little smirk means she's foreseeing her boyfriend Star Boy taking her out for dinner that evening. Unlike the fully-inked Andromeda piece and the not-very-inked Brainy piece, this one occupies a neat middle ground, with some dark outlines done very loosely (not in inks), and some just left up to the watercolours. I love how the lack of lines around and in her hair makes it almost seem to glow, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone do such a good job with the metallic light blue of her Bronze Age costume. I love all the colours that went into making the shadows and shines just right. Social/Sharing |

A dreamy D for Dream Girl made your dreams come true! This is a very lovely piece and it's cool that you were able to pair it with the prelim, congrats!

Aww, thank you, Lee! Happy to share! Dreamy's one of my favourite Legionnaires, so I'm very thankful I was able to pick this one up. :)
