DescriptionFrom the get-go, it was clear the character for "K" was going to be Karate Kid! Commentors in Barry's Facebook group mentioned Kinetix, Kono, Koko the monkey, Kid Quantums I and II, and Kent Shakespeare, but Karate Kid got the most votes. I wasn't really planning on claiming the K piece, but then Barry went and dropped this absolute masterpiece, and I just couldn't help myself! It's just a fantastic piece all around, and an excellent example of how if Barry Kitson has the opportunity to go over the top for something, he absolutely will. This piece features several different versions of Karate Kid posing in front of the version of Legion HQ they correspond to. From left to right, going clockwise, we have Karate Kid and the Legion clubhouse from the Threeboot Legion (Barry's designs), then Karate Kid from the Silver Age posing in front of the Legion's first-ever clubhouse, then the same Karate Kid in his 70s Cockrum-Grell costume redesign standing in front of the Legion's second headquarters, and finally Myg, the second Karate Kid and the only character in this piece to not be some variation of Val Armorr. (And if that sounded complicated, know that it's just the industry standard when it comes to being a Legion fan!) I love that each little "slice" has its own unique sky. The sunset orange for Cockrum-Grell Karate Kid is definitely my favourite. Barry did such an amazing job with the silhouettes, too, with each clearly identifiable as a specific version of the Legion clubhouse. I didn't have a Karate Kid piece in my collection prior to this, so it's pretty cool to wind up with four different versions of him in a single piece! For me, though, the best part is absolutely how Barry chose to incorporate the "K" using negative space. It's so simple, but so clever, and it lends itself perfectly to being able to show multiple versions of a character. Social/Sharing |

K def HAD to be Karate Kid! This turned out really cool with getting 4 versions of the character on one board, each with their own unique backgrounds/colors. congrats!

Very clever solution.
Isn't it, though?? I think my favourite part of this piece as a whole is just how clever it is.

Thanks, Sean! I agree that it's one of the most striking and unique pieces of the bunch.
