Well-packed from Trama Studio in Brazil (and taking only eleven days in transit), SANDMAN & THE ENDLESS by David Lee is a piece I found on eBay last year. The graphite is dark enough that this almost looks inked in photos, but the naked eye reveals a 2 or 4 B pencil over blue pencil sketch lines. This piece was drawn back in 2022 and reproduced in David's published sketchbook, but had only recently come up for sale. It's pinned on his instagram account to this day.

You don't see a lot of spec drawings of the entire Sandman family which makes any Endless clan illustration pretty special, but in addition to Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirium this piece also features several characters from The Dreaming, including Cain and Abel from the Houses of Mystery and Secrets, Lucien the Librarian, Daniel Nod, and Merv Pumpkinhead.

Am I wrong or does Daniel's version of Dream looks like Trent Reznor?

The first comic art I collected was from what would become DC's Vertigo line and I've been returning to it for the past few years. It's interesting to see these characters interpreted by artists who may not have been alive when the characters first appeared - which is still a fresh memory for me. Now I know how all those first-generation Silver Age readers feel...

I def see the Trent Reznor reference in this version of Dream! And you summed it up quite well, to get the entire Endless family plus ancillary/supporting characters and elements from the world of The Dreaming/Sandman all in one piece is not very common to see especially from newer/younger artists on spec etc. David has a cool highly detailed graphite style (love seeing blue pencil marks peak through too). A nice Sandman illustration find for your collection, congrats!

The market has spoken! Trent Reznor is as hot as he's ever been and as a model for Sandman gets us one step closer to god.

Wow, a twelve character illustration done on spec? Of exactly the characters you happene to be focused on these days? Some might say this was meant for you. Whatever this cost, I'm betting it felt dirt cheap given the bang for your buck content it provides. I have to imagine that any art collecting Sandman fan would be thrilled to steal this away from you. You might consider throwing it in a coffin and sealing it tight. Perhaps with a few handfuls of nine inch nails?
