Description

I recently picked up a bundle of original pages from the short story in Star Wars Tales # 8 �The One That Got Away� that was written and drawn by British cartoonist Andi Watson.

The story is narrated retrospectively by a singer named Nima�Tar also known as Mina who is on tour with a band to pay for her college tuition and ends up being enslaved by Jabba the Hutt as one of his dancers. She eventually manages to escape and ends up back at the university where she presents her thesis of the Hutt species that she wrote during her captivity.

I really love all the short stories that came out of Star Wars Tales and how many of them were often satirical in nature and were parodies that made pop culture references from other media. It was cool that Dark Horse threw canon completely out the window to focus on just telling good stories with killer art. I was very excited to be able pick these pages up since it seems to be really difficult to find any original art from the various short stories published in Star Wars Tales.

I like Watson's sense of design when it comes to motion having lines in sharp angles. Even in the more static panel, the lighting and linework move in angles.

Great Star Wars Tales pickups, Chris! I am especially fond of this page -the layout and art are fantastic!

Thanks Scott! I really love Andi's style as well and how he uses sharp angles in his linework and page layouts.
