Description

Mark Schultz drew this beautiful bust of Caroline Munro from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad for 2003 WonderFest in Louisville as a tribute to the actress who was a special guest at the show that year with Ray Harryhausen who provided all of the stop motion animation for the creatures in the film.

The illustration was also featured as the official t-shirt sold at the show that year and made into a limited edition resin plaque sculpted by the late Mike Parks. I actually own one the plaques which was one of the reasons why I jumped at the chance to own the original art it was based off of when it popped up for auction. I had to think twice about pulling the trigger on my max bid but things lined up and I was able to grab it in the end.

I brought it to HeroesCon this year to show Mark at his table who was delighted to see his illustration again after so many years and was gracious enough to have his picture taken with it. I�m certainly looking forward to having it framed for display.

It has a movie poster one sheet look from the 50's! Wonderful balance of exotic beauty and adventure by a master of the craft!

That's a great piece of art from a great con. I went to that show to try and get some art from Schultz but all he had were signed prints. I did get a William Stout drawing and Munro's autograph. I'd like to go to Wonderfest again someday just to look at all the models.

Thank you! That's awesome you were able to get an autograph by Caroline Munro. I've never met her but I've been told by people who have that she's a very sweet person. I've been to WonderFest once and thought it was a great show. It's really cool just to walk the show floor and see all the amazing models people have built and I would like to go again when I have the extra funds!
