DescriptionPage 1: "Unexpected Catch" A fisherman in a rowboat labeled “Hattie” looks bewildered as he reels in a line connected to a surfaced German U-boat labeled “128.” A surprised Nazi officer on the conning tower punctuates the scene with an exclamation mark. The humor is understated, but effective — a satirical twist on military encounters from the perspective of home front absurdity. Signed “McCornack” in lower left. I'm going to guess Spielberg saw gags like this to inspire him to make 1941.

Wild Bill Kelso comes screaming in on that P-40, lights his cigar with a blowtorch, and just starts hollering like a madman, grinning the whole time.
