Rick Mays is the acclaimed artist behind the Kabuki Agents: Scarab series, part of David Mack�s Kabuki universe at Image Comics. He originally brought Scarab to life in Kabuki: Masks of the Noh before taking the reins of the standalone Scarab spin-off, illustrating multiple issues over several years with painted artwork and self-inking done entirely with brush technique. Mays�s visual style and portrayal of Tiger Lily and other Noh agents have endeared him to fans of the painted, crime-tinged aesthetic of the series.

Mays�s broader career includes work for Marvel, DC, Image, Wildstorm, and Japanese publications. His time living in Japan and training in martial arts notably enriched both the look and emotional nuance of his Scarab panels, which he often drew there, blending personal experience with stylized visual storytelling.
