DescriptionHere's a holy grail page I picked up a few years back of Captain Marvel #29 page 23 by Jim Starlin and Al Milgrom! Had them both sign it in person. One of those pages I've always wanted.Social/Sharing |

Wonderful techniques used in each panel and pure state of the art storytelling for the 70's to bring forth a fully powered up Captain Marvel!

This is a an amzing page, as good as any one might find from that Capt. Marvel run. Such is the stuff dreams are made of.

How does one visualize the attainment of cosmic awareness? I don't see Kirby in any of the visual choices. I see bits of Ditko and Gil Kane (and, yeah, Kubrick), but it's mostly Starlin figuring out his own "cosmic" visual iconography. Also, I think Al Milgrom's inking choices should not be overlooked when assessing the art's impact on the reader. To sum up, this is a Bronze Age gem of a page!

One of these key moments in comic history where Jim Starlin was outperforming himself page after page... The sky is NOT the limit!

I'm more of a "liker" than a commentor on CAF, but in this case that heart icon doesn't feel sufficient. While the last panel is obviously the payoff, the top row (& bottom left) are both individually stunning to look at as well as examples of beautiful storytelling. So, so envious — though glad I can at least click over here to stare at this baby!
