Description

Five poster concept artworks hand-drawn by renowned sci-fi artist David B. Mattingly for the promotion of Gary Nelson's The Black Hole. The crew of the USS Palomino investigated the USS Cygnus after discovering it near a black hole. The film is remembered for its groundbreaking visual effects, which earned Academy Award® nominations for Peter Ellenshaw, Art Cruickshank, Eustace Lycett, Danny Lee, Harrison Ellenshaw, and Joe Hale for Best Visual Effects

These artworks depicting the crews of both ships near the titular black hole were created for promotional and key art by Mattingly, who also served on the effects team as a film assistant matte artist. Mattingly's promotional artwork was later used in the Disney-authorized Golden novelization of the film.

Each artwork is rendered and signed by Mattingly in mixed media on paper. This set exhibits slight discoloration throughout. Dimensions: (each) 10" x 7" (25.5 cm x 18 cm)
