Description

A concept sketch hand-drawn by production designer Harry Lange for the production of Jim Henson and Frank Oz's The Dark Crystal. In the film, SkekUng the Garthim-Master (Dave Goelz) challenged SkekSil the Chamberlain (Oz) to Trial by Stone, aka Haakskeekah, a duel for the throne conducted by hacking at the Skeksis' trial stone.

This sketch of the stone with two Skeksis swords at its base is rendered and annotated "DC 07" and "DC 22717" by Lange in bordered graphite and ink on vellum. The vellum exhibits tape residue on its corners. Dimensions: 6" x 8" (15.25 cm x 20.5 cm)
