DescriptionLast night I posted the page where Sue finally locates the Forever Stone after being trapped by Sorcerer Supreme Doom almost 8 billion years in the future on a dying Earth. She is able to summon a Time Sled, whereupon she straps herself in, and off she goes. I love this page that immediately follows, because there are these fun little vignettes of Sue rescuing her team/family members one by one from vastly different eras of history. First you get a really nice heartfelt reunion with Reed in the Medieval Era (I love their joyful facial expressions), then she saves Johnny from certain death due to lack of oxygen in a time before life even began on Earth, then a kind of comical scene where Reed stretches to grab the Thing as several ferocious dinosaurs snap at him, and then they all zoom off to resume their battle. Look out, Doom, here they come! And this time, it's personal! Social/Sharing |

THIS, right here! This panel alone makes this page what it is and what the Fantastic Four is about: FAMILY!

Exactly! Interestingly, in the previous volume of FF that recently ended, Ben was transformed by Doom back to his human form, which was meant to be a slap in the face to Reed by Victor, as in "Look how easily I accomplish what you have spent years trying to achieve." And also to weaken the team of course, though in a new twist, since Ben had lost his powers, the rest of the team members started to lose theirs. Which had never been a dynamic before as far as I know. I took it to mean that they have been such a tight knit family for so long now that they are not just connected emotionally, but now physically. And it also added a sense of urgency to get Ben back to his Thing form, which led to a really fun story arc. Anyway, yes, the FF is all about family. And kicking Doom's sorcerous butt of course...which we'll see if they can accomplish when I post my next two pages from this issue.

I wonder if there'll be any butterfly effect from each of them having occupied a place and time. But it's comics. What are they going to do, a multiversal saga?

A multiverse saga? Marvel? They'd never do that. ;-)

I'll be honest that I wasn't expecting Sue to immediately find the entire rest of the team all within 1 page, literally on the next page after finding the Forever Stone and the time travel Uber aka Time Sled. But it's comics so it makes sense, I guess, haha. A fun page though for sure and for me (just like for Ruben above) that single panel between Sue and Reed is so good.
