DescriptionThis is the original for one of the center-fold pin ups which were included in a few D.C. comics in 1966. The others were of Superman, Batman and Robin (2), and The Atom. There is only one cover for the original Silver Age Green Lantern series (you might guess which one if you know how much I admire Murphy Anderson as an inker) which I would love to own as much as I do this particular image of Green Lantern - for some reason, the main character was often drawn in awkward poses or with his back to the viewer on Kane's covers for the series. The piece was also signed by Kane when he originally drew it. Published D.C. art from this era was generally not signed, although Kane signed a number of his covers in the mid-1960sThe entire pin-up image was reprinted in color at the end of Vol. 6 of the Green Lantern archives. Just the image of Green Lantern was used as the cover image of that book. Social/Sharing |

My favorite character, appearing in a silver age pin-up as drawn by his creator, the great Gil Kane. It doesn't get much better than this. Congratulations.

This counts as both Green Lantern fan grail, a DC Silver Age grail. I love seeing these illustrations still exist. Magnificent.
