Death to Pachuco #1 Variant Cover (2025)

Bought this piece of original art from Katie Skelly recently, which was used as a variant cover for the first issue of Death To Pachuco, the excellent recent Image Comics miniseries written by Henry Barajas and drawn by Rachel Merrill.

I've read and enjoyed Skelly's books published through Fantagraphics (My Pretty Vampire, Maids, The Agency) and admired her work as an editor with her recent Viscere horror-themed anthologies. This is the first time I can recall her making original art available, however. As a comic reader AND art collector, I couldn't resist.

Although Skelly doesn’t draw any interior pages in the book, her linework on the cover captures the style and substance of the miniseries—a detective story set in 1943 Los Angeles shortly before the Zoot Suit Riots that involved American servicemen stationed in Southern California and Mexican-American and Latino Los Angelenos.
