Description

Few people probably know (or care) that Spark Plug was absent from the Barney Google strip for a few years in the late 1920s. In my opinion, all the storey lines without Spark Plug are rather dull (especially true visually). But Barney's most famous companion returned in 1930, and this original is from that reunion sequence. Of course, some would say that the strip again took a nosedive when Spark Plug departs again in 1932 (only to be replaced as a figure of central interest by SULLY the fighter -- what was DeBeck thinking?)
