Description
This awesome one-page gag from Wizard Magazine #128 (2003) spoofs the premiere of X2: X-Men United. Written by Marc Andreyko and illustrated by Jim Mahfood, the piece is packed with great cameos and meta-humor. A standout joke features the "Marvel Mania Grand Re-Opening" -- a nod to the real-world Marvel restaurant at Universal CityWalk that had actually closed four years prior. Love that the obscure Malibu Comics character Night Man is the bouncer. And poor C-listers Brother Voodoo and Night Thrasher unceremoniously getting the boot! The page was later collected in Mahfood's 2013 career retrospective art book, "Visual Funk: Jim Mahfood Art," published by IDW.
