Wow! I am so impressed by these Black Dragon pages by John Bolton! I found this page to be particularly appealing. The top panel with the knight bursting though a doorway, sword at the ready, followed by the bottom panel with the woman, lit only by the light from the door, holding up a dagger to protect herself. The storytelling here is fantastic! And the inkwork is phenomenal. In the top panel, I love the way the light wraps around the knight, the crosshatching behind him and the delicate hatching on his tunic. And in the bottom panel, it's even better--The way Bolton uses black to depict the folds of the woman's clothing, the delicate crosshatching on the wall behind her. This art is a totally different level than I'm used to seeing. I am in awe.
