Description

My reward from Dan's 2021 AutumnKinds Kickstarter. This was for the Reaper reward level, an 8x10 watercolor illustration.

I asked for a space warrior type of character, specifically a Kirby Space Beast, but Dan seems to have taken some liberty and used his characte Narang that he created (or at least unveiled afaik) for his next Kickstarter project, By The Blade, and gave him a sci-fi outfit and accessories.

I have to say, I'm not disappointed that it isn't a Space Beast, as this guy is extremely cool! Funny, I was actually thinking of having a painting of this character for my reward for THIS years Kickstarter, so I'll have to come up with a different character for Dan to paint for the new one! Looking back at the Kickstarter campaign for By The Blade, I notice that this painting is actually included in it, so it now becomes a published piece. :)

In addition to this watercolor, I also received two 6x8 sketches (for some reason I was sent an extra one!) as well as a very large Remarque on the insert page for the Autumnkinds portfolio.

This is pretty boss! All those soft painted backgrounds give an otherworldly haze to contrast Brereton's strong outlines and sharp character defining details. While it may not be a space beast, this is a monster acquisition.

I honestly don't remember the " Kirby Space Beast" description, but honestly I'm glad it wasn't specifically on my mind when I did it!

Different, stopped and made me look and once again, Brereton doesn't disappoint. Background colors are great and the way they work with the character framing the subject as you focus on the figure is eye catching. Nice...
