Description

Bill Sienkiewicz was undergoing a lot of growth as an artist in the early 80's, and I've long felt that Moon Knight #26, titled 'Hit It!', was when the kindling really caught.*

I won't over blow the work done in this issue, but the linkage to jazz music and the themes of child abuse, and societal violence in general, 'Hit It!' stands up as a comic book.

The only other pages from this issue that I recall seeing were the awesome pgs 4-5 spread of MK swinging across the sky; now I don't punch in that weight class, but this pgs 2-3 spread really gets to the theme of the story, how freely we use violent terms in our colloquial conversation.

*I will acknowledge that the splash to Moon Knight 14 was really special, and we started to see some really nice things in MK #21 & #22. MK #24, the second Red Scarlett issue was great, and that cover to MK 25 is wonderful, but the jazz impresario really broke free with MK 26, from December 1982. In August '84 we got the splash page to New Mutants #18, and the fire started to roar.

From my favorite MK issue by Sienkiewicz! Congrats, it's awesome! I only wish you could post a high quality scan. Sienkiewicz said that he felt he reached his peak with this issue, and from here it was downhill in the series, hence that he had to change of project and seek for new goals.
