DescriptionThis incredible page hung on the wall in John Byrne's studio for 20+ years and he kindly sent it my way recently. This page is my son Matt's favorite piece of comic artwork and was the inspiration for the following commission John drew for us a few years ago:http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1283488 The first panel is a true show-stopper with the entire Fantastic Four plus Medusa appearing along with a huge image of Dragon Man. This issue marked the first appearance of Gorgon and he literally brings down a building in the final three panels! The published version of this page had Sue Storm off-panel in the third and 4th panels; and somebody (not John Byrne or I) did some very unprofessional "restoration" to remove the white-out that covered Sue's figure in these panels. This is not ideal, but is not too distracting and it is interesting to see how Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott originally created the page. The third panel in particular has a terrific image of Sue and it is a shame it was removed in the published version. This issue marked the return of Joe Sinnott as inker on The Fantastic Four comic and began their epic run which ran for the next several years. Social/Sharing |

I wonder how a pro would remove the whiteout, maybe a little restoration in order.

The issue here is that someone else removed the white-out that Joe Sinnott originally used to cover the Invisible Girl; more "restoration" is most certainly NOT in order.

Wow! What an awesome Fantastic Four page! Gorgeously drawn by the King himself, Jack Kirby, and artfully inked by the great Joe Sinnott! Love the top scene of Dragon Man attacking the city and the FF trying to stop him! Just a masterpiece of comic art!
