DescriptionThis is one of my big purchases of 2013, a Stephen Platt Prophet double spread introducing Crypt.Well, what to say beside the obvious, the sheer violence and amount of details? The over the top anatomy? The double splash which is basically 2 splash pages linked together? This is amazing beyond words. Splatt body of work is quite thin but is highly desirable because of the splash he made in the industry with Moon Knight and Prophet. Wizard called him the next McFarlane for obvious reasons. Those who loathe 90s Image style will hate his art but he was a rising star, hell, a comet, and his art deeply represents the essence of those years. Clearly not the best storyteller out there but the man can clearly draw and insinuate his art with raw energy. The art itself is insane and no scan can do it justice. Tons of blueline pencils, details, details, details, details, incredible inks also. It’s full belled so it gives you the impression of holding a piece twice its actual size. And well, I like hooded characters and always thought Crypt was quite well, if simply, designed. With a Platt cover and a double spread, I think I’m quite good with his art for a time. Happy b-day to me by the way ;) 2017 update: this piece was used by Ed Piskor (of Hip Hop family fame) in his serialized serie running in Image + in which he testifies for his love of Image Comics and its importance as a publisher in the history of US Comics. Congratulations on a terrific piece and first appearance of Crypt! I vividly remember looking at this first hand and being amazed by the amount of detail in the arrows and Crypt's costume. One of Platt's best splashes period!

I love the last page of that issue. It's fantastic with Crypt's back full of arrows, holding a bloody axe... gotta love the 90s Image comics!
