Description

A spoof of Rex Morgan M.D. by Wally Wood. The style and tone suggests that it may have been done for MAD and there is an EC Publications stamp on the reverse. It is probable that this piece comes from 1959s Mad #46 specifically the Wally Wood segment "If Famous Authors Wrote The Comics".

As Rob astutely pointed out, the dialogue can be sung to "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" from Oklahoma and hense the Hammerstein attribution in the final panel. It has almost everything I want in a Wood piece, great machinery, weird science, brilliant inks and some girls:)

Ah, what a great piece. The fact that the text is sung to the tune of "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" from the Broadway show "Oklahoma", might help to narrow the feature down as well. You're not going to try singing this to some of your patients, are you? ~:c)

Yep! That's from Mad. I made the mistake of singing the lyrics to my Mom and almost got the magazine banished from our house! I'd bet that the writing was by Frank Jacobs. Norm
