Monoprint. Cover of Sandman 63 and the current �The Kindly Ones� trade paperback.
Clay and thread figure, photography, silk, Mac. 1860 x 2817 pixels.
Dave Mckean explains in 'Dustcovers' why this is his favourite Sandman cover.
� Neil suggested an image of snake hair. I think this is my all-time favourite SANDMAN cover. Don�t know why.I was really coming to grips with the computer and the edit on this image was a pure joy. When you make a painting or drawing you rarely get suprised by it. Certainly the odd expressive mark or texture excites you, but you rarely get the get the same sort of excitment looking at your own work that you do looking at other people�s. I worked on each element for this cover seperately and then composited them very quickly at the last minute. I remember laughing out loud as they fell into place�.

I love this image too, there is something haunting and beautiful in the amber and green hues of this portrait of Lyta Hall.

Debate about the monoprints aside, these are stunning! You Sandman collection is impressive.
