Update - It's only taken me ten years (!), but I've finally made a proper scan of this art to replace the poor digital photo I had posted previously.

May 2006

My first commission experience with Mike Machlan was so great that I couldn't help but send more business his way at the first possible moment.

Mike said he wanted to draw Captain Marvel, so I suggested an interpretation of the events of Captain Marvel # 26, originally by Jim Starlin and Chic Stone. Mike packed in everything from that book into this scene, including the ever-loving Thing, Captain Marvel, Thanos, Super Skrull, and a baddie with an eye patch called Skragg.

Mike did two versions of this commission and could not decide which one he liked the best. I ended up with both versions. (Thanks, Mike!)

I've called this version "1A", but that was decided by a flip of a coin.

Total time from start to finish was 6 weeks. I set this up directly with Mike via email.

I strongly recommend Mike's commission services, as his work is of the highest quality.

This is such a fun commission, taking us back to a time when comics were dynamic exciting and yes fun to read.
