DescriptionPerhaps not just the best Neal Adams Savage Tales painting, but arguably his best painting. Period. I don't really get into that whole art "grail" schtick, but if I did, this might qualify. This is why I collect art, and why I can't seem to stop. Why would I want to?Social/Sharing |

Scott, how did you find this? What a great cover! What a marvelous piece of artwork! From the time it was released until today, I still think it's Neal's best image of Conan, even though he's not solo featured!

Scott you're breaking out all the good stuff. This is another one of my all time favorite covers. It's so great to see the original so I can appreciate the application of color and revel in the details. Congrats!

One of the most beautiful covers I have ever seen ! I remember back in the days how hard it's been for me, living in France, to find a decent copy of Savage Tales #5 !!! Thanks for sharing with us such a comicart masterpiece !!! Your collection is tremendously fabulous ...!!!

Wow! Simply incredible. I wonder why they used (or even how they achieved) that blueish green for the background of the printed cover. This is so much better and just must be stunning in person. Thanks for sharing it!!!

Yeah baby! That's what I'm talking about! Wow Scott, you must just be over the moon with this piece! I can't even imagine what you're feeling! Big time congratulations! I know you love Smith and Wrightson and many of the other greats, but Neal is like your heroin - you're crack! You've got to be spinning right now! Anyway, enjoy it as only you can. As far as that whole grail thing, go ahead and say it, we all know you want to! So say it, I dare ya! LOL

I still remember reading this story in the B/W large mag size publications done by Lug in France. I was crying like a baby when during the last battle, running out of arrows, the first non-hero I can remember of in a comic book, dies standing up. Seeing this wonderful cover in all its glory, I cannot help but cry a little.... just a little, I am a grown man now... right... This is beyond Grail. Burn your idols, gents, this is it. And let me cry a little more.

Can't add much to your comment. It is one of the best N.A. pieces, whatever medium. Obviously, that is saying a lot.
