DescriptionIconic splash of the Defenders from their best period, depicted as they meet Gerber's creation Howard the Duck. Defenders plus Sal Buscema plus Janson inks plus Gerber make this a truly special piece for me. Many many thanks to Andrew Van Embden, who loved it as much as I do but was still willing to listen!Interestingly, the art is slightly smaller than standard art, as it looks like the oversized comic was shot 1:1 from the original. Still, the large images of the characters more than compensate. Always looking for high end Defenders art from this period! Social/Sharing |

Great piece Carlo. Glad you got it in the end. The defenders rock. If only Marvel would stick with a new defenders series long enough to give it traction, then a whole new generation would get to enjoy the greatest non-team ever. Here's hoping...

Such a great 1970s Marvel page--totally represents that era, with some of the coolest (and weirdest) Marvel heroes!

It was the story that had to happen - Howard teaming up with the classic non-team, the Defenders - and what an amazing page to have from that story! Congratulations!

I read this book until the cover dropped off. Hard to believe I never noticed just how HUGE the Hulk's feet were behind Doctor Strange! Love Janson's inks on Buscema's pencils.

I don't normally like to comment a second time, but seeing this again I have to. It's just stunning, and conveys that childhood sense of awe at seeing a superhero team gathering inside some secret hideaway. Wonderful!
