DescriptionWhen opening my birthday presents, I found this wonderful Don Rosa drawing of Uncle Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck hanging out together. I was shocked and amazed to see it; for a brief moment I thought Kathy, the Wonder Wife, had found a way to get Don to do a commission and then I remembered.I had seen it on ebay one day when Walt Parish was in a selling mood and pointed it out to Kathy. I then promptly forgot about it since I wasn't in a buying mood, i.e., the war chest was depleted. I didn't really expect her to get it, but she did! I first read Don's work in the pages of the RBCC (Rocket's Blast Comic Collector) and then didn't see it for years. Turns out he was busy cranking out almost one hundred Duck stories for Disney. I had no clue. I think I discovered this when I ran across his book, The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. In that book, he took every reference to Scrooge's life story from Carl Barks' stories and tied it into one beautifully written and drawn biography. It's a highlight that everyone should read. Update 1 - I took the original to Heroescon 2018 to get a picture of it with Don to add to the Additional Images. We started talking and he reached for his markers and said, “Would you like me to color it?” Thinking it might be a trick question, I paused for a moment and said, “Yes!” We chatted while Don applied his markers. As usual he refused to take any money, but suggested a donation to Chris Sparks’ Team Cul de Sac which raises money for Parkinson’s research. I did that. I really enjoy, Don. More people in the US should read his Duck books (and Carl Barks’ as well). Social/Sharing |

Hold on to it ( and your wife ) as tightly as Uncle Scrooge would hold on to a farthing. Both are treasures
