Description

This was my first commission. I flat out loved the Supergirl backup stories in Action Comics and Jim's artwork was a big reason why. I think you can see his talent in this picture.

Jim has passed on now. I miss him. He was a great guy, a terrific and amazingly prolific artist, and, yes, a gentleman.

Check out the Additional Images for a colored version of the commission done by James Ricklef. My old scanner wasn't large enough to scan the full image so Jim couldn't color it entirely.

I miss Jim a lot too, he played an key role in the most important decision of my life.

When I finally had the chance to meet Jim in person I told him as a kid before credits I always knew his artwork by the way he drew eyes. He was astounded that was a shorthand to his style.

Jim Mooney was one of the nicest, most underrated artists. I love the facial expressions: Kara's joy and Streaky's fear.
