Description

I bought the left hand image on eBay some time ago. It was referred to as a "Special Splash" page. Sometime later,
Scott Kress of Catskill Comics told me that it was a commission piece by Ms. Fradon.

It is a wonderful example of her work. However, as much as I enjoy that piece - after all, it features the full cast sans Sapphire, action, Metamorpho changing his shape and substance, a scary villain, and lots of detail - it really seemed to be missing something without Sapphire.

I tried to commission Ramona once, but failed due to an injury to her wrist and her work commitments. :(

More recently, I met her at a signing at October Country in New Paltz, NY and asked if she'd be interested. She was! Working with Scott Kress, we came up with an idea to complete the scene. Kathy got it for my birthday.

I love Ramona's pencil work but her inks on this work are pretty special.

WOW! I was never into Metamorpho as a kid but I sure appreciate Ramona's stellar art now. (She also did one of the reboots of Plastic Man, my favorite since Jack Cole.) Congrats on a wonderful piece, Alex!

It's amazing how seamless it is! I'll admit I'm not familiar with Metamorpho but when something comes together as perfectly as this, it's time to take notice. What a great birthday present!!
