Description

Offered here is an original Flash Gordon daily by Dan Barry and Bob Fujitani that appeared on 3 July 1979. It was part of the story titled "Black Out" which ran from 18 June 1979 to 18 August 1970.

In this story, Flash leaves earth with three of his young "space corp" and soon run into an alien ship. The occupants of the ship break into Flash's ship where he finds light blinds and is painful to them; thus they wear "blackout glasses" to protect their eyes. In this strip, the alien fighters try to capture Flash, but he hits the generator switch turning on the lights blinding the attackers; and thus endeth the fight.

The original is rendered in pen, brush, and ink with an image area of 13 x 3.75" on a larger (14.25 x 4.25") piece of 2-ply Bristol. The art features a nice two-panel format with the alien space fighters on the left and Flash and the boys on the right. This daily appeared 40 years ago but is in excellent shape and has been signed and dated by Barry & Fujitani in the first panel.
