Your colouring is much nicer than the original. The cover 'pops' better.

The white background at the logo is one that worked so well on other FF covers of the time and it works here to make the rest of the colors brighter.

Stan didn't make many bad cover decisions. He stated many times how hard he worked on covers. Because comics were newsstand or drug store sales, Stan said that covers had to be bold and be instantly comprehended at a glance.
Given this, I believe Stan faltered on the original cover. Removing the Kirby Krackle was an error. Not sure who redrew the buildings in the far background. And the dull brown cover certainly wasn't going to enhance any impulse sales.
So I put Jack's original cover drawing together and re-inked and recolored the piece in a modified 1960s style. I too liked the FF covers with the white background. The Dr Martins paints were available for Stan G. to color the cover with a slight watercolor effect if he had the time to do it. It was much easier for me using Painter 2023, however.
But Marvel at this time had a lot of infighting. People were leaving. So I'm thankful Stan got this book out at all.

Thanks so very much !
Perhaps Stan told Stan G. to color this cover differently than FF 64 and the Sentry, which also had a white cover. Maybe back-to-back white covers was some kind of no-no in Stan's mind.
Another way to color this piece would be to make the sky black and full of stars, reminiscent of FF 29. Then the words "Fantastic Four" would be colored in yellow with a red outline. I think that would have worked too. Anything but the brown, in my opinion !
