DescriptionOver many years of reading Peanuts, I have found a few dozen strips that I liked so much that they always come to mind. Although there have been a lot of Peanuts originals on the market over the past 10 years or so, I always find it hard to believe when one of those memorable strips is offered for sale. I think that it is close to a miracle that I have been able to buy three such strips, including this one, the 1973 daily with Snoopy hugging his "little friend of friend," and the 1972 original with Snoopy not suffering fools gladly. Although I am not so impressed by Schulz' artwork by 1980, something about the punchline in this strip always struck a cord with me, as did Snoopy's use of a biblical phrase as a slam at Lucy. Maybe this says something about my own personality -- but that is why different Peanuts strips have different levels of appeal for everyone. Schulz was such a genius in his ostensible simplicity.Social/Sharing |
