DescriptionA perfect Joe Kubert Sgt. Rock cover. The more of Joe's work I see the more I am truly humbled by his genius. I had the pleasure of meeting him for the 4th time at C2E2 a few weeks ago and hearing him speak and watching his drawing demonstration. He has that presence to him that only a few of the greats I have met have and like the other greats it is tempered with humility and modesty. A big thank to Nick for this wonderful piece. I have a few Joe Kubert collecting goals and this scratches the top one of my list, now if I could only find a nice twice up war page:)The caption at the top of the art asks "What;s Holdin' Up the War?" the cover implies it's Sgt. Rock, but I'd make the arguement it was Joe Kubert:)

Make war no more (but keep the Joe Kubert art coming). It is a fine cover (which, since it is in your collection, is unsurprising) with the kind of drama and artistic panache that, literally, only Joe Kubert could deliver.

Incredible! the compostion/camera angle is great, he really puts us down in the action here, and his brush work is second to none. What a master.

I used to really like the covers he did for the old DC horror comics but then who didn't. Some really fun pieces. Not terribly hot on his embellishment (just my opinion is all) I always did wonder what he would have looked like 'inked' by Alcala, but an extraordinary 'layout' artist and demon 'penciller.'
