To the best of my knowledge Mr. Anderson has not done many recreations and I am not sure if he even takes commissions any more. Some years back Murphy painted the cover of Showcase 55 for Bill Howard. Murphy stated he would never ever recreate this cover again.

More recently Bill put it up on his CAF gallery and I wrote a long comment on how I dreamed of someday owning an Anderson recreation and how much I admired this particular work. I would cite Showcase 55 as one of my three favorite Anderson covers.

Sometime earlier this year Bill offered to sell this to a list member who is a good friend of mine. That unnamed person declined, but suggested my name knowing what a huge fan I am of all things Earth 2 related and Murphy Anderson. I think I have mentioned sometime back that my fiance made up a shirt for me stating;" I met Murphy Anderson," following a nice encounter at San Diego in 2005 with one of my art heroes.

Bill declined to sell it at that time. I wrote him a polite letter stating that if he was ever to change his mind and the upcoming wedding had not bankrupted me, I would certainly be interested. I also pointed out that I knew Bill could certainly get a lot more money for it from other people, but no one would cherish it more that I.

Bill recently dropped me a note and agreed to sell it to me. I cannot say how happy I am that Bill chose to sell the recreation to me. It is now the highlight of my collection and is off the market until I go to the next place.
