Great page. Of course the large panel is amazing for both composition, inking and way it brings the rhythm of the story and page to a bit of a climax as you wait to hear the story unfold on the next page. I particularly like the second panel, it is just beautiful.

Fantastic Pope example! So much depth to his work and this page is perfectly executed. The mood is right on. I think Pope created a new school of sorts in comics, inspiring many of my favorite young comics artists. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the messages on the collection. Pope definitely influenced my peers as well as his. The hybrid of euro comics meets manga is a stand out and 100% is my favorite all around book of his work. That said IMO the first one I saw do this hybrid and maybe there was someone before but Frank Miller on Ronin pulled lone wolf and cub together with Moebius. And that was influenced a ton of 80’s creators.

Agreed ---- Miller and Pope crucially brought in approaches and styles from other cultures to mainstream US comics and they are major influencers! And what great storytellers they are, to boot!

Thanks- Definitely one of the highlights in my collection. Not a lot of 100% pages out there.
