Frank Frazetta - "New World" Preliminary Cover Illustration Original Art (circa 1972). This gem-like 4 x 5" preliminary was done in preparation for the cover art to the Science Fiction Book Club's Year's Best Science Fiction, 1972. The final oil painting can be seen in the introduction to Testament: The Life and Art of Frank Frazetta and on the cover of the 1980 Frazetta Calendar...

Of the Frazetta painting I've seen, new world and the countess are my absolute favorites. This prelim is very appealing, I think I may like the drawing of the two primary figures even more here than in the final painting.
