Incredible penciled page from a well loved story 'What Can One Man Do/', from GL/GA #87... I love everything about this page, from gorgeous Dinah Lance to ALL the great DC characters (OK not in costume--)...to the Peter Max Beatles posters on the wall...I have no idea why this story was shot from pencils... gentlemen??

HI Rob! Another great page! This entire story was shot from pencils because Neal Adams wanted it done that way. This was one of a few stories Neal used to prove to DC that comic art COULD be shot from pencils if it was rendered in the right way. This story is one of my very favourite Adams stories ever, and was Eliot Maggin's first story for DC -- done originally as a part of an academic assignment and then adapted for actual publication.

The page is beautiful, but it makes me think; what will need more of an explanation soon, that phones had cords, or that comics used to be drawn on paper with pencil?!?

Ken has an interesting point. I just realized that the GL/GA comics are about as old as the Golden Age stuff was when I was reading this. When I look at it, my point of reference merely shifts to when the world still used phone cords. Indeed, I wonder how this looks to readers not old enough to have seen it the first time around.
