Description

I love this story - everything about it. Cooke reimagined the DC universe in the early 1960's and showed us a version that was, at the same time, joyful and much darker than what we actually were reading at that time.

It was a masterstroke and his retro look was perfect in setting the tone.

I've got other pages from the story, but until now, I didn't have a great Batman page. This was in the collection of the late John Cassaday (a wonderful artist also taken much too soon). To me that just shows talent knows talent.

I was able to have a breakfast with Darwyn courtesy of the Hero Initiative and it was unforgettable for me.

This was game recognizing game. Cassaday saw Cooke's passion in this project which spoke to him as an artist.

Phenomenal Batman page from Darwyn Cooke's New Frontier! I remember reading New Frontier in amazement when it came out. Every issue was a fascinating retelling of the old stories, but with a new twist. I loved Darwyn's art and I can see you did, too. This semi-splash page with Batman is a great example of Darwyn's ability to capture the mood and spirit of the old stories. Great pick-up, congrats!
